There are those who feel the book moves too slowly and that there are 'too many words.' First, what's the rush? Secondly, too many words? How many words would one...” see full review » see other reviews » |

“Another excellent work from a master. Not only one of the written word but of intrigue, suspence and wit. A masterful storyteller in all ways ”

The story is a little humdrum, and the fact that Rob Roy barely figures into the book makes it a bit hard to call it fantastic, but the language used in the book is simply stunning. ”

Recommended for ages 13+. ”

I got almost none of the revolt and the romance until the very last pages.”

Sir Walter Scott employs beautiful imagery in Rob Roy and you will feel as though you're actually in the Scottish Highlands yourself.”

There was very little--too little--military or even religious history of what led to the background, and although Rob Roy is the hero, frequently coming to the rescue, I expected the story to be about him. In addition, the romantic plot itself was not resolved until the very last page. If I were able to, I would give the book a 3- or even a 2+.”

The highland brogue is written almost phonetically, which makes it difficult to understand at times, but G-- forbid you use your brain when reading a book! ”
