I loved this book. I'm not sure why I am so happy to read books like this - This is really more a character study than an actual novel. In this complilation a young female author attempts to have a summer of independence in Maine. She meets local characters, becomes emeshed in their lives, and ponders life along the seaside in rural Maine. It reminds me of the small character stories that often graced the pages of early ladies' magazines like Godey;s Lady's Book. Having grown up loving...
