Mythology, war, and politics come together as Mary meets the Green Man and Holmes his granddaughter. Not to be missed.”

“I can't give this book five stars. I wanted to-I have loved the earlier Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes novels written by Laurie King. But even though this book started with a bang there is a "twist" (and I use that word liberally) that is extremely insulting to the intelligence. (I'm being as careful as I can not to commit a spoiler here.) That plus Russell getting an attack of TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) virus in the last twenty pages of the novel after having been so competent throughout this adventure, and the "mystical" postscript, did not sit well with me. In a nutshell: good but not great. ”

“Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes. Have not read the previous King books but I don't think it mattered. Read for book club and we had a good discussion. Not my typical read but if you like mysteries you might like this.”
