I thought the relationship between Ty and Carine was fantastically written. Neggers blended their childhood and romance and then heartbreak in a way that you never felt jilted or that it seemed OOC. The play between them felt natural and real and I sorta loved how Carine wasn't in denial and didn't try to pretend what she felt wasn't real. It was perfectly human, her pull towards Ty and how she knew it was wrong but it never held that cheesy (and sadly expected) immature 'I love you and want you but don't'. It didn't feel yo-yo-esque, which again, refreshing.
All the characters were developed and I loved reading how they all worked and didn't work together. Gus was fantastic and I adored that he wasn't pro-Ty but didn't heavy hand it.
A really enjoyable read with a great plot. Characters felt life like, none being super-hero and the women were strong. Not always necessarily saving the day but also not getting themselves in sticky situations where a man was needed to swoop in.”
