This book must have been healing for him to write, but it did very little for me. I found four or five poems I really enjoyed reading. The rest, I just couldn't get into. The majority of the love poems had either the whiny tone of a break-up diary or semblence to the inside of a valentine's day card. Either way, I wasn't smitten. It's too bad, too. I really enjoyed the movie based on his life. I was expecting a lot more out of this one.

The book has a couple of good poems. I think different poems would appeal to different readers.

I particularly liked LaNette. No wonder she married him!!
