“awesome, and tragic. i knew someone who had this short term memory loss, just like guy pearce in Memento. the man in the this true story survived for a long time under care. the person i knew tried to make it in this world alone, and ended up committing suicide. it is amazing how much of your brain can be gone and yet you can still live, if not function well. i cried for this man when i read the book.”

The book does more than look at this man's forever changed life; it examines the function memory serves. I read the book after a friend with a brain tumor lost her short term memory, and that may have colored my reaction to the writing. I thought it was wonderful.”
