I read this book while hiking across Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It has that epic family history quality, but with Harrison's excellent ability to convey the feel of a life in the woods (and lakes) of the upper midwest. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in this geography, or curious about the relationship between people and place.
