After a few hits off the bottle I close my eyes. The whiskey is making me numb and cozy. I could stay this way all night. Moving fast and feeling nothing. This is what I've been doing all year. Getting high, marking time. This day next year I don't know where I'll be. But I can guarantee it won't be here, on the road between Huntsville and Rainey.

It's hard to explain this book without giving it away. Lulu McClellan has been an outsider her whole life. She takes pictures to make sense of the world around her. She goes through the crazy twists and turns of teenage-hood always taking pictures. She is up and down with her father, her past love comes back to live in a cottage in the woods near Lulu's house. Although, Lulu has been an outcast her best friend is the preppy, pretty, popular girl. They get along great but bad news hits Lulu...
