“Not the typical Elmore Leonard book but it's my favorite he's written.
What happens when someone has the makings of a saint but doesn't act like one. Juvenal is a quite young man who happens to have the power to heal. This power appeared while he was a Franciscan brother in the Amazon. When he feels drawn to someone who is ill he begins to bleed from the five wounds of Jesus, commonly known as stigmata. With the touch of his hand they are healed.
After he leaves the brotherhood he reappears in Detroit at a rehab center for alcoholics. He is accidentally forced out of hiding when he cures a blind woman. He is soon surrounded by people with their on agenda and luckily some who have his best interest at heart. ”
“Entertaining, light read.....nothing to write home about.”
