Repetitive and lacking in controversy. Ettlinger simply lists the ingredients on a twinkie, representative of our industrial food complex, and attempts to discover its origins. Yet without pictures or guides the book becomes a repetitive and vague soliloquy of pipes and furnaces and freezers thanks to industry secrets and national security. He does mention issues such as high fructose corn syrup consumption, humane treatment of chickens, and genetically modified food via Monsanto, but only in passing. Nothing is concrete or reveals dirt.
