“The False Princess” another Georgia Peach award nominee for 2012-2013. Unlike some of the other books on the list, I enjoyed this one thoroughly. The romantic undertones were minor for me and I enjoyed the nuance of the friendship that Sinda and Kiernan shared. After learning the stunningly devastating news, that she formerly Niala, is not the true princess of the Hall of Thorvaldor. She is carted off to an aunt’s house that she has never met. While she is at Aunt Varil’s, she finds that the magic spell that has hidden her identity all these years, has sequestered magic abilities that she hasn’t even begun to understand. Sinda finds herself under the tutelage of Philantha, an old sorceress. As Sinda tries to control her powers as well as, dealing with whom the real princess is. Kiernan is her willing accomplice, encourages the quest.
