The copyright date on this one is 1995, but it's really based on a 1967 revision of the original text. The first 34 Nancy Drew novels were all re-written starting in 1959.

The main theme of this book has to do with counterfeiting Chinese vases and other objects. Nancy and her friends George and Bess and in this along with her father. Other characters include a man shop owner and a Chinese man named Soong. The story also involves basically slave labor and, in a way, kidnapping and, of course, greed.

Nancy learns a lot about pottery, her purse is stolen, she's trapped in a room, the usual types of problems she faces. She tries to get stolen items back and tries to help Soong find some Chinsese friends of his that have apparently disappeared.

It's a good story. There's also not a lot of differences between the revised text and the original text.

There is nothing so fine as escaping into a good mystery that is being solved by a girl my age! These books gave me the idea that I could figure out anything!

I generally like the Nancy's that were written in the '30's and early 40's better than the later ones, but this was a fairly entertaining story.

a must read ONLY if you can get your hands on the original hardcover from the 40's, etc. ones from the 70's are completely ripped apart, newer ones have way too much filler. if you can get the originals, stick to the first 20/30!

I wanted to be like Nancy Drew strong and independent. I loved these stories as a child.
