  • Yuki Cross: The heroine. The adopted daughter of the Headmaster, and a Guardian who protects Cross Academy. She is later revealed to be a pureblood vampire and Kaname's sister/betrothed.
  • Kaname Kuran: Night Class President and pureblood vampire. Yuki adores him. He's the progenitor of the Kurans. He is revealed to be Yuki's brother and betrothed and awakened by their uncle, Rido.
  • Zero Kiryuu: Yuki's childhood friend, and a Guardian. Shizuka turned him into a vampire. He will eventually lose his sanity, falling to Level E.
  • Aido Hanabusa: Nickname: Idol. A vampire aristocrat. His cousin is Akatsuki.
  • Kain Akatsuki: Nickname: Wild. A vampire and Aido's cousin. Has feelings for Ruka
  • Ruka Souen: A vampire that have feelings for Kaname. Aido and Kain's cousin.
  • Takuma Ichijo: Night Class Vice President. He and Kaname are old friends.
  • Senri Shiki: He does things at his own pace. His father Rido had possessed him. A model along with Rima
  • Toga Yagari: A vampire hunter and Zero's teacher. He list his right eye trying to save Zero from a vampire. Later on Yagari decides to help Zero and The Chairman.
  • Asato Ichijo: Kaname's best friend and second in charge of the night class. Also an aristocrat.
  • Sayori Wakaba: Yuki's human best friend. Her nick name is Yori.
  • Seiren: Kaname's bodyguard
  • Rima Toya: An aristocrat vampire. She's a model along with Shiki.
  • Maria Kurenai: Shizuka's cousin (of sorts). Maria let Shizuka borrow her body in exchange for Shizuka's blood.
  • Ichiru Kiryu: Zero's younger twin brother who betrayed his family to serve Shizuka.
  • Kaien Cross: The adopted father of Yuki. He hopes to educate those who will become a bridge between humans and vampires. He was/is and ex-vampire hunter.
  • Rido Kuran: Yuki's uncle. He caused Yuki's parents to die, and Kaname shattered his body, but he resurrects after 10 years. He took over his son Shiki's body and came to Cross Academy.
  • Sara Shirabuki: a pureblood that plans on something.
  • Juri Kuran: Yuki and Kaname's mother. A pureblood
  • Haruka Kuran: Yuki and Kaname's father. A pureblood. Is actually Rido and Juri's brother
  • Shizuka Hio: The pureblood who robbed Zero of his family. Kaname killed her.

  • Pureblood: Purbloods are vampires who do not have a single drop of human blood in their lineage. They are very powerful and they can turn humans into vampires by drinking their blood.
  • Night Class: The Night Class - a group of beautiful and elite students - are all vampires! They coexist with the human Day Class at Cross Academy.
  • Ichio: Ichijo Asato's nickname
  • Yori: Wakaba Sayori's nickname
