“Really liked how King begins with how he started writing when he was 5 or 6 and wound us through to where he is today focusing on the aspects of his life that revolved around writing. Very interesting! Gave me encouragement in my own writing. Then I found the second part of the book which focuses on how to write to be very useful.”

“Really entertaining! Much better than I thought. The stories of his "CV" during the first 100 pages or so are absolutely hilarious! Then, he's able to make even the most mundane traits of writing (sentence structure, adverbs, dialogue, and grammar) funny and really enjoyable to read. A great book.”

“First quarter or so is more of a personal memoir, and less focused on writing. However, it is quite interesting, has some nice nuggets of writing wisdom, and also tells about how he became an author. I would not recommend skimping on any part of this book. I read it on my kindle, and came out with many large chunks of highlighted material.

Highly recommended, if you enjoy writing. ”

“While not everyone will enjoy this half autobiographical half writing manuel, I did. I enjoyed Stephen King writing as Stephen King, found his life fascinating to read from his point of view. His discussions on writing, unlike other books, made me feel inspired rather than put off. It won't give you a magic key to your own writing, but it makes the whole thing seem much more manageable.”
