This is the first of Ms. Woodiwiss' books that I read. I loved the characters and the plot. This story moves smoothly and effortlessly from start to finish. Ms. Woodiwiss makes you feel like you are part of the story drawing you into the lives that she is writing about. She also put passion into her books. They were steamy and exciting. I was a hooked on her books from this point on. I have lost count of the number of times that I have read this book and I will continue to read it for as long as I can.

I read this book years ago. I'm not sure, but it may have been the first historical romance I ever read. I've been hooked ever since. :) I read it at least once a year, and it's never lost its appeal. Aislinn and Wulfgar are strong characters and their love story is terrific!

Woodiwiss wrote classic sexy historical romances. She was a master. I read it ages ago and loved it. I wouldn't dare read it again; I might be disappointed since my memory is so fond.

Okay, it took me one week to think about the book before writing a review, and I did not start another book immediately (which is not normal) the book was just that intense. I starting reading the book and was unsure of how I would feel with the forcefulness nature of it. With that said, I did like the book. The scenes were very descriptive and I felt immersed in the story. I felt what she felt, the sorrow, the drive, the pain and then slowly the happiness and loyalty to Wulfgar. Many battle scenes, this one is not for the faint hearted.

All in all, maybe a bit Scarlet O'Hara meets Stockholm Syndrome, but if you can look past that, a pretty good story.

I haven't read this book in years, but I read it about six times! This, The Flame and the Flower and Shanna are among my favorites by her. This is romance writing at its finest!
