Desperation

by Stephen King

There’s a place along Interstate 50 that some call the loneliest place on Earth. It’s known as Desperation, Nevada. It’s not a very nice place to live. It’s an even worse place to die. Let the battle against evil begin. (read review)

My favorite King novel, Desperation is a meditation about the battle between Good and Evil, disguised as an intense chase story. I love the surrealness of David's relationship with God and with Marinville. I love the force that is Entragian, the most memorable "bad guy" in any book I've read (well, let's not forget Chigurh, from No Country for Old Men). Most of all, I love how all the novel's elements fit together to create an exciting, philosophical experience.

I did love this book. It only gets three stars because I'm stingy. Even Lord of the Rings and the Gunslinger series only got four stars. A book has got to change my life to get five.

This was the only Stephen King book I ever had to set aside for a few days because I was so unsettled by it! The beginning with the sheriff really freaked me out! Yikes!!!

    Great read though!
