I've been watching Haven which the titles says is based on this book. However, it is very loosely based. The Colorado Kid being one of King's worst & Haven being interesting.

I liked this book but I'm not sure how the whole series Haven sprang out of it. Oh well, it's a rare thing to see something good made out of a Stephen King book - the movies always come out atrocious - so props to the creative team. A warning: you may start reading and wonder how you're going to get to the answer in less than 200 pages. Well, you're not. This isn't a black and a white, here's the problem and ta da, the solution! kind of read. I imagine it's pissed off quite a lot of people.

Fun quick tale which turns out not to be about the story, but getting to it.

Yikes! Booooring. I was shocked at its boredom. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

This was on my reading list because the tv show "Haven" was supposedly created from this book. I found very little resemblance except for a couple of the characters. It was still good reading, except very short for Stephen King.

Interesting short story.... I quite enjoyed it. I think maybe what you learn here, is my reason for not reading or watching the news ! I love the little old men in this story. It's short so my review is short to not give anything away. I liked the afterword from Stephen as well.

Really well done. Love the two old guys in this book. Great cover for the Hard Case Crime series.

I've just finished listened this short story by Stephen King "The Colorado Kid." The cover is exceptionally misleading as it looks like a noir 50s pulp fiction mystery in the style of Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammet, or Nero Wolfe. That's not AT ALL what this is about. It is also not typical Stephen King. It is an unsolved death that happened on an island off the coast of Maine. The audio was fun, fun, fun with a reader that had the "down East" accent down pat. I'm from New England and I've heard this accent. It was done pretty heavy but quite excellently. I picked this up because my husband and I are watching the third season of Haven, based (loosely) on this short story. I say loosely because really it is only the characters of the two news men from the local newspaper that make the transition from the book to the TV show. In fact, "the troubles" aren't part of the book at all. Nevertheless, a good story that I'm glad to have heard.
