Awesome book. I was pulled into this book right from the first page. It was hard to put down. In fact, I haven't been sucked into a Stephen King story this fast since Gerald's Game. The story gripped my attention throughout. I loved it. I would have given it five stars if it hadn't ended so...

Never been a HUGE Stephen King fan. I enjoyed some of his movies. But, this book was horrible. As a Christian, it was blatantly obvious that King has a grudge against Christianity especially since all Christians in this book were portrayed as schizophrenic, insane, deceitful, and unloving....

In the beginning, the protagonist, Clay, has just gained a new promotion at work. He has a wife, a son and lives in New York City. On his way back he realizes that there are people running up and down the street murdering each other. He hides behind a pillar, watches a woman pick up her phone and almost instantaneously fly into a fit of murderous rage. He soon realizes that the cell phones are what are causing people to do this to themselves. He soon bonds with a short bearded man named tom and a young teenage girl named Alice. Together they try to flee the city and escape 'the pulse.' A frequency that is let out onto the global network. They meet new people and devise new plans along the way. They seek refuge in toms house, a school and many more. At one part in the story he comes to the realization that a lot of the "phone crazies" come to rest on the soccer field at the school. So one night, he and his companions head out with propane tanks and burn the field killing all of those phone crazies, but that is not all of them.

I quite enjoyed the book sometimes it can be very interesting to read this kind of dark tale. I knew when I picked up a book by Stephen King that the story would be very gory. The problem was that the title/cover gives away too much of the story. It tells you the reason for the mass murder and the cause. What I did like about the book is how the author put together a group of misfits to overcome the Pulse. It gives that sense that ordinary people if willing enough, have the power to stand up to anything.

A decent read although I hated the ending. Good characters and entertaining for the most part.

I would have given this a five star rating, but I thought the ending sucked. If the book had another 50 or 100 pages to 'finalize' things, I think it would have been fabulous; however, the ending seemed incomplete. Overall though, this was quite intriguing and an interesting concept for a sci-fi book. Similar to the crazies, but with a more interesting twist.

It's a zombie-esque Steven King book. I think it was a lot like The Stand, actually but The Stand was better.

I wasn't sure about this book at first, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. The first Stephen King I have read in a very long time.

Another text to make me paranoid about the apocalypse. The ending was a true "Aargh!" moment, but the story leading up to the end was entertaining and original.

Typical King but a good read and well written. If you've enjoyed his other apocalyptic stories you'll like this. What happens to society when a "Pulse" is sent out via cell phone all over the world and erases everyone's brain and turns them all crazy? If you're one of the lucky without a phone are you really lucky?

This was my first Stephen King book, and at first I was a little disappointed (I mean, what color is peppermint, exactly?). But it got better as the book went along. Stephen King really is a fantastic writer.
