IMHO, while some people may say that the ending was abrupt, it makes complete sense if you pay attention the last three chapters well enough; the ending is a logical progression from what the characters had been seeing and deducing about the phone-crazies.

Clay and the other characters accomplished what they set out to do. The ending was simply written in such a way that instead of spelling everything out for the purposes of closure, it allowed the reader to arrive at that conclusion for the story based on the previous developments in the final parts of the book.

A different kind of Stephen King novel. Yes, there is some gore, however, this novel really brings out what I have come to believe is what really drives most of his work .... the mind. Very cerebral .... mostly deals with the human condition ... one other thing, as I was almost finished with the book I checked to see what some of you thought and I have to agree ... the ending was ... "Ha! That's it?" .... but then it reminded me of King's Pet Cemetary (the book, not the movie) and the short story of The Lady or the Tiger. The endings leave it up to the reader to decide how they believe what the outcome will be ... oh, once done reading it, I have never looked at my, or anyone elses cell the same again ......

I really enjoyed this Stephen King novel! Starts out with a bang and keeps you turning the pages. The ending leaves you hanging a bit, but I loved it that way!
