The more I read of John Sandford, the more I appreciate his writing. His mysteries are involved, his characters are pretty well-developed, and parts of the plot are just plain scary. This book involves a mother and two daughters who are kidnapped, the insane kid who did it, and the investigation (plus a little about Lucas's developing relationship).”

A killer has kidnapped psychologist Andi Manette and her two daughters. For revenge? or some other reason? Lucas Davenport is called in to help solve the crime and hopefully get the Manette's back safely. The killer is a gamer and starts calling Lucas directly. Lucas has a side career developing role playing games and police simulations.
This is the 7th book in the series and although they don't always have the greatest character development, they never fail to entertain me. Lucas doesn't always do things by the book but he always gets his man (or woman, depending on the book). He's also something of a ladies man and in this book, he's torn between proposing to his girlfriend and staying single.”
“good, sick and twisted, but good”
