I'm surprised that I didn't learn more about the man by reading this first memoir. It does live up to its subtitle: A story of race and inheritance, as it explores his own wonderings about race and his background. What I conclude is that he is a very sensitive, thoughtful fellow. He really...

I enjoyed this audiobook narrated by Barack himself which included a preface in his words, read after his election to the U.S. presidency and an epilogue that included his moving speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention. It was a sweet memoir, well written in a straightforward style. I'm reminded while reading it of the love and fair-mindedness of his upbringing and the diversity of his family and cultural experiences that has to be influential in his presidential decision making.

Beautifully, gorgeously, awe-inspiringly written! I cannot say how surprised I am that this book was everything it was. The book deals with Obama's time prior to becoming president and truly, only briefly touches on his start of interest in politics. The novel is more concerned with his search for identity and for his father. There were so many passages in this book that I almost cried because they were so poignantly and intelligently written. This novel deals with a quest for a sense of self in a shifting world.

I was surprised at his drug use in highschool and how negative he was about the world. It seemed he had a chip on his shoulder. He seems a lot different now.

Easy to read book with deep insights into the multi-racial, multi-cultural background which shaped the life of the current President of the USA.

The book Dreams from My Father by Barack Obama is a very interesting book written by the 44th president of the United States of America. Obama wrote this book before he was president, so it gives a very interesting look into the life of the then, senator from the state of Illinois. This book talks about the story of Barack Obama's father, who was from Africa. It is a very interesting look into how a man's character was built by his parents own experiences and how one can reflect the dreams of their parents with how they live their own life.

Insightful look in to the young Obama's thoughts. He comes across as self centered, lost, and angry.
