Forget ever James Bond movie you ever saw when you read the books. These are much more a mystery/adventure story. Recommended

Very different to Fleming's other books. This book has aged quite a bit. I never really cared what happened to the main character Viv and Bond lacked some of his 'Bondness'. The two villians are stereotyped 50's 'hoods' right down to the toothpick chewing. Definitely not a read again book.

While this is only the second Ian Fleming Book I read, I can tell this isn't one of the best.
The first half of the book is written in first person in the voice of the female character. Although it was an interesting approach, it kept me wondering whether or not the printer had made a mistake and somehow the bond cover ended up on a Harlequin novel.
Toward the end there was some slightly anticlimactic action but it didn't quite rescue the novel from this writing experiment.
I enjoyed The Man with the Golden Gun much more.
