Alexandria Huton is near death when she, and her little brother, Joshua, are found by vampire hunter Aidan Savage. He saves them from a terrible fate, but in the process Alex is changed forever.

Now, she is swept into the dark world of the Carpathians - struggling with near vampiric urges and a lethargy that strikes during the day. Only Aidan, as her lifemate, can help. But can she trust him when her brother is kidnapped by a vampire bent on Aidan's destruction.

I really liked this story. Alexandria was a strong, capable woman and Aidan was extremely likable (in a 'medieval' way :)). I give this story four stars. I would definitely recommend it to others.

This one was good but not a fav. I liked Alexandra as a heroine but was not crazy about Adin.

I've only read the first three books in this series (in order) and I can attest that there's truth to what everyone says. Yes they are a bit samey and yes there is a general formula she's following. Dialogue can sometimes be trite just because we've heard it all before, the differences between a Carpathian and a vampire, what it means to be a lifemate, the fact that the girl truly has no choice but to submit bla bla bla. I can see why people would tire of the series pretty quickly.

Having said that, I still enjoyed this story very much, especially because of the humor she threw in, which I thought was genuinely funny. Aidan, the hero, is very likeable and Alexandria is a definite improvement on the previous two heroines. The actual narrative has improved a lot as well, with very little purple prose tarnishing the story. It read like a breeze and I did feel connected to both protagonists. She works her magic, adding in different elements that do make the story very enjoyable and there are scenes here that will satisfy any romance reader. The scene where he seeks her out at the club and they dance, the very first time they truly get together. It was all very well written, and sizzling in parts.

I'm sticking with this series at least until book 5. She does a lot of work setting up Gregori's book, to the point where readers are near desperate to read Dark Magic. She also introduces Julian, Aidan's tormented twin, whom I'd love to read about. I'll see how it goes after finishing Book 5 (and if that books isn't Julian's, then after finishing his story) and see if it's time for a definite or partial break from the series.

The third installment of the Carpathians series follows the golden twin Aidan to San Francisco, where he rescues his lifemate and her little brother from a vampire seeking a queen. Now Alexandria must face the reality of her new life as a Carpathian, and what it means both for her and the little boy she's raised as if he were her own.

This series is frustrating me! It's such an interesting premise and I see such potential in it that I keep giving it a try, but the writing is just awful and I end up disappointed. It's bland and repetitive and I end up hating the weak, whining heroines every time. Though it's a quick read, I always feel dissatisfied when I'm done, as if I was cheated out of a good story. I gave it 2.5 stars because of the potential, but I think I need to take a break from the series for a while and read some other things before I decide if I want to keep going with this one.

When Alexandria and her little brother are trapped with a being so evil, a mysterious powerful golden being came to their rescue. Aidan Savage had found his one true mate but Alex was unsure if she could really believe in him completely, could she?
