Book 2. The London season is in full swing and the aristocracy atwitter over a a certain gentleman who claims to be a direct descendant of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Further excitement over a cat burglar who is stealing things that once belong to Marie Antoinette. An owner of a pilfered treasure is found murdered. The mysterious thief develops a twisted obsession with Emily and it takes all her perseverance to unmask her stalker and find the murderer. Meanwhile she is facing a brewing scandal that threatens her reputation and romance with Colin Hargreaves.
