  • Nebraska: The state where Mary traveled to by train.
  • Omaha: Where the farms of both Dave and Neil (and others) were located. It had dirt roads and several buildings.
  • Dave's farm: A sod house with a large barn and corrals. The house had only 2 rooms, one large (kitchen and bedroom) and one small (storage and possible future nursery), with a wooden entry door. A fine plaster covered the outside walls. A river cut through the land.
  • The mercantile: A store in downtown Omaha where most items could be bought.
