“the attempt to make the story interesting failed as i have discovered the characters more deeply. i was bored and erdrich created a world beyond imagining very unlike garcia-marquez and isabel allende.

It's so quirky and colorful, with a random assortment of odd events pulled together to create a great story. I really enjoyed it - it left me thinking alot about life and death. The main character is wonderful - it's a 100 year old priest that has served his life on an indian reservation but is really a woman... ”

“I love an epic. This totally qualifies. I recommend it but the Indian cultural does get a little bizarre at times. I fell in love with the first chapter.”
