This book is absolutely filthy but it deals with sex in an interesting psychological context not just for the sake of titilation. If not for the ending this could have been an absolute masterpiece but what Mosley does here is really ambitious and something else regardless. ”

The story winds around his feelings – shock, hurt, betrayal, and ….horny.? Well, L becomes a “woke up” man, who breezes through some lovers, including his girlfriend, Joelle. Erotic and sexy.”

Still excellently written, but after reading the whole book, I must say that Mosley always has a way of making you think. Towards the end, the sex lessened and the story increased, but the erotica was still there. My only beef with the book was the TV movie tie-up, at the end. You remember those "based on true events" television movies of the 70's and 80's? They'd show you a movie, and at the end, they'd show you each character, and there would be text over the picture, telling you what that person went on to do with their life. That's what wound up happening at the end of this book. I'm sorry to spoil the ending, but I think it's spoiled anyway, so at least now you know that going in. Overall though, it's erotica, right? So the story ending maybe isn't quite as important as how the sex turns out.”

The way he tackled this book was awesome and made it more than just sex in ink. This was my first Walter Mosley book but it won't be the last. ”

The story line is always fairly straightforward. The beauty is in the writing. It takes you there... for me - to a world I have never known. If you can, read the Easy Rawlins stories in order.”
