Celia Meyers always received everything that she wanted, including a little brother. After she recieves a little brother, though, she discovers that it's not all fun and games, so she seeks out a different life, one she knew of in the past.

  • Celia Marie Meyers: Celia is the spoiled protagonist. The only child, and the best friend of Tommy Hanson.
  • Millicent Potter AKA "Millie": Millie used to be Celia's nanny. Millicent's father (Robert Potter) abandoned her and her mother (Jade Fletcher) after her father found out that her mother was pregnant with her. So Millicent grew up in England (Millicent never revealed exactly where she lived in England) with her mother. Some roomers say that she lived in a rat infested apartment with her mother, but that has never been confirmed.When Millicent was 17 her mother fell ill and unable to care for her anymore sent Millie to the United States for a better life. Her mother gave her all of the British pounds that she had and told Millie to be successful. So, Millie left, she turned the British pounds into dollars, went to a public college in Utah. She worked and lived there for seven years as a waitress, but as the restaurant closed she had to leave that job and search for a new one. That is when she found the want ad in the local paper "Wanted: Good Nanny". And that is what she did for the next two years.On the third year that she worked as a nanny things turned sour and she found herself fond of the already married man whom hired her. But, still she swore to herself to keep her feelings hidden behind bars as she remembered what her mother told her.But, as the man revealed his feelings for her she did not resist. As a result she was practically thrown out of the house by the man not un-lovingly. She lived in the city raising her little girl and keeping quiet about the situation. Feeling as though she let her mother down and failed in her quest.
  • Maria Dolores Sasgovidge: Maria is one of Celia's best friends. Maria was born in Potosi, Mexico; where she lived until she was 2 years old. Her father died - but her mother (Rene Lopez) refused to tell her how, and eventually they fled to the United States, and landed in Arizona. Maria's mother worked two jobs to stay on track and Maria went to school whever she wasn't at a day care. When Maria was 5 years old they were able to stand on their own two feet and moved to Monroe, Utah, where Maria current resides. Later, that same year, Maria's mother married again, to Benjamin Turner, Maria's new step-father. Maria, her mother, and her step-father currently lives in Monroe, Utah.
  • Thomas Ned Meyers: Thomas is Celia's father. Thomas Ned Meyers grew up just like every other kid in Cabot, Arkansas in the 1960s, his father (Richard Meyers) insisted that he take up a paper route and deliver newspapers to "build character". So he did, but not without complaints. When he turned 12 his father won the lottery changing their life around forever. Thomas was promised 1/4th of that money after his father sees him as a responsible man. As a result of the lottery, the family, (Richard Meyers, Thomas Meyers, and Julia Wetherson-Meyers) moved to Silver Spring, Maryland.After Thomas turned 20, he went to Harvard where he met Cynthia Howard. His was attempting to become a laywer at his father's request; however, he dropped out early, moved to Monroe, Utah, and started his own Bank and Loan company with Cynthia. By the time is was 23 he was engaged to Cynthia and lost total, and complete communication with either of his parents. December 27, 1982 Cynthia and Thomas married. A year later, Cynthia fell ill with cancer. She did not recover and three years later, she died.By the time Thomas was 30 his bank and loan company was failing and he was forced to downgrade to a small studio apartment. Thomas met Sarah Lauric when he was 32 and she became a part of his loan company. After that the loan company began stedily becoming more successful. By the age of 35 Thomas and Sarah married with a child yet to come. They moved to a nice house on a nice secluded little street, still located in Monroe, Utah. On Thomas's birthday (April 21st), their child was born, Cecelia Meyers. Thomas called his parents after Celia was born and Tom learned that his parents could not come and see Celia, for his mom (Julia) was in the hospital, she suffered from a stroke. A year later his mother died.When Thomas turned 38 his father flew from Maryland to Utah, to see Thomas, get caught up with their lives, and upon leaving, Richard gave Thomas his 1/4 of the lottery winnings. Which amounted to 1 billion dollars. They hired a nanny for Celia along with a chef and a gardener.
  • Thomas Witton Hanson: Thomas is Celia's best friend. Thomas Witton Hanson was born in Molen, Utah. His family was never so rich, his father (Jacob Lawerence Hanson) worked as a plumber, and his mother (Virgina Delia Standfored) waitress at a local restaurant just to keep up with the bills. Tommy had an older sibling, Marc Brian Hanson, he was 12 years old when Tommy was born. When Tommy turned 2 Lily Ann Hanson was born. At the age of 5 Tommy attended a public preschool, Marc drove Tommy to school most of the time on his way to work. Christopher David Hanson, Tommy's new little brother was born.At the age of 6, Tommy's father managed to get a good job as a Nuclear Physist, and as a result they moved to Monroe, Utah. Tommy's mother quit her waitressing job and they sent Tommy to an all boys school. When Tommy turned 7 another sibling was added to the shuffle: Sofia Lee Hanson. By this time Tommy was nearly a pro at caring for his silbings. Most of the time Marc was gone at college, so Tommy was dubbed THE "big brother" and head honcho of the young siblings, he broke up the fights, just as he as seen his mother do, and helped his mother in anyway he could. That year he also became friends with Celia Meyers and they found the tree house in the woods.Things were on a steady path from there, and continued in routine, Tommy went to school, helped with his siblings, etc. But when Tommy turned 16 his parents began fighting much more than they ever had. By the age of 17 Tommy's parents planned to seperate. Tommy went off to college and that is that.

  • Sarah Lynn Lauric: Sarah was born in Richwood, West Virginia and grew up in a stern and strict household; her father (Fredrick Lauric) an ex-marine mostly was the one to create the strict-ness. Sarah's mother was a typical caring house wife. At the age of 8 Sarah had two new siblings, twins, Leonard and Rebecca. When she turned 19 she left home and attended a public college and studied to become a doctor. Within the next 7 years Sarah moved out to Monroe, Utah lived in a nice apartment building and worked at a local hospital. When she turned 29 the hospital caught fire and burned down, leaving Sarah without a job, that was when Sarah met Thomas, who invited her to work at his growing loan company. During the next few years, Sarah married Thomas, gave birth to her first child Cecelia Marie, and moved to a nice house and neighborhood with her new husband and child.
  • Dianne Leili Sawyers: Dianne is one of Celia's best friends. Dianne Leili Sawyers was born in Immokalee, Florida. Due to her young parents, Dianne was adopted at birth. She basically had a normal childhood, she had a few friends and was spoiled rotten by her adoptive parents (Lawerence and Sofia Sawyers). When Dianne was 5 years old her father died in a car accident. Her mother, unable to care for her any longer, sent her away to an orphanage. By the age of 7 she was adopted, again, and as a result she moved to Monroe, Utah with her new family. At the age of 9 her parents (Gary and Annette Barrowson) pulled her out of public school so that she could be homeschooled. At the age of 15 she went to college.
  • Calvin Theodore Barker: Calvin is an acquaintance of Celia's. Calvin Theodore Barker was born in Monroe, Utah his parents (Justin and Claire) were young (23 & 22) so his grandparents (Sally and George) were always a big part of his life. He had an older sister, the more louder and spoiled-er of the two. Calvin was always a part of one group or another, at the age of 5 he joined a little baseball team. At the age of 6 he joined a joined a kids football team. At the age of 7 he joined a soccar team, he actually stuck with that for a few years.
  • Sally May O'Hare: Sally May O'Hare was born in Idaho, she's never revealed where in Idaho. She grew up like any other kid her age, she was in the Girl Scouts, but she was a tom boy at heart. At the age of 18 she married her childhood sweetheart Abraham Gennuis. At the age of 20 she gave birth to two twin girls, Marianne and Violet, and then moved to Monroe, Utah. Within the next few years Abraham joined the army, and within 6 years of his joining he was killed. Four years later Sally married George Barker and with George she had Justin. For the most part she stayed home raising her children, after Justin got married to Claire, Sally searched for something to do with her life, and she found it when an old diner was for sale downtown. She turned the diner into a place that everyone went to regularly, and Justin became a chef at her restaurant.

Reading Level: Ages 9-12

A great read for those who have or will soon have siblings. A good chapter book for those beginning to read books on their own. It has good lessons entertwined in the story and a little bit of everything mixed in, humor, mystery, adventure, etc. so it's a good bet for all readers.
