“Charlie Larson recently sent me his latest book. I met Charlie at the famous Missouri MAP Conference, probably in 1999. He was one of the original "Eagles of Map" who founded the movement some 35 years ago, before it was even legal for CPAs to advertise, let alone hold a conference dedicated to improving their businesses.
I read Larson's book, Innovative Billing and Collection Methods That Work, during the research for my first work on Value Pricing. It influenced me, and brought the concept of the Change Order to the fore.
This book is a short, pithy collection of quotes and reflections on what is wrong with how CPAs price--by time, not value. More and more CPAs are realizing that this business model--"we sell time"--is incredibly sub-optimal.
I was honored Charlie mentioned my work in his Appendix. And as his inscription to me says, "Old friends are best friends." Ditto my friend.”
