Didn’t Like It “A quick, engaging read, well written and suspenseful. But the plot and motivations hold on the thinest of threads. Pretty horrific imagery, but in this post-Saw world it seems rather tame. “Excellent book. I was only able to close it to grab some sleep. This book was inspired by a real case in which a young girl was murdered. ”

“Based fairly accurately on the atrocious murder of Sylvia Likens, this is too stomach-turning to be a really enjoyable read. I'll give i9t this much -- it is truly horrifying, and suspenseful even though I knew how it was going to come out. I have to say I'm put off by the way the author plays one of the sickest episodes in Indiana history for entertainment value without -- at least on the edition I read -- acknowledging the real, formerly live girl who gave her all so Jack ketchum could turn a buck. I would never have bought this, even the used copy I own, if I knew it was going to be about poor Sylvia.”

“It was a fairly good book. Some parts where hard to read and not for the faint of heart. I dont know that I would recommend this book to anyone. ”

“This is, quite possibly, the most disturbing book I've read lately. It was, however, well written. The characters were developed sufficiently, especially the main character (whose point of view the book was written in.) The fact that it was based on a true story only made it more chilling to me. Worth the read.”

“Very chilling...this book is based on true events of the torture and murder of a 16 year old girl/ names and places have been altered. The name of the real girl is Sylvia Likens and you can find more facts on her death if you google her name.”
