  • Theodosia Browning: She is the owner of the Indigo Tea Shop in Charleston and an amateur sleuth.
  • Drayton: He is a master tea blender employed by Theodosia at her tea shop. His signature look is a bow tie. He also enjoys reciting tea-related poetry and imparting his knowledge of tea and etiquette.
  • Haley: She is a the culinary wizard employed by Theodosia to create unique tea time goodies (Scones, Muffins, Soups, Sandwiches etc.) for the tea shop and for any catering gigs they accept.
  • Libby: Theodosia's aunt and a friend to Daria's mother, Sophie. She is Theodosia's staunchest supporter.
  • Daria Shand: A friend of Theodosia's and a fellow store owner. She owned The Map Store. She is murdered outside her shop on the night of the Back Alley Crawl.
  • Burt Tidwell: A detective who often works the cases with which Theodosia finds herself involved. He is head of the Robbery-Homicide division of the Charleston Police Dept.
  • Joe Don Hunter: Daria's boyfriend and a member of the Kipling Club--a group of treasure hunters.
  • Earl Grey: Theodosia's Dalbrador and trained as a therapy dog.
  • Jason Pritchard: Daria's assistant at the map store. He has a juvenile history of crime that he is working to overcome. He is trying to find a backer to purchase The Map Shop in the wake of Daria's sudden death.
  • Sophie Shand: She is the mother of the murdered shop owner and a friend of Theodosia's Aunt LIbby. She has another daughter Fallon.
  • Lyndel Woodruff: A member of the Heritage Club who has recently published a book about a Civil War battle. He is slated to do a presentation on this book and The Indigo Tea Shop is providing catering for the event.
  • Timothy Neville: The head of the Heritage Society and organizer of Woodruff's presentation.
  • Jack Brux: A professor and aspiring author. He is a member of the Heritage Club and also lives near where Theodosia hopes to purchase a home. He has a bit of a temper and is angry that he seems to be a suspect in the murder because he wanted to purchase a specific map from Daria and she refused. TImothy Neville asks him to do some digging for maps to help clear Theodosia's prospective home from an archeological dig.
  • Cinnamon St. John: Her real first name is Cynthia, but she uses Cinnamon because it sounds more exotic. SHe and her mother, Miss Kitty, are new shop owners--a perfume shop.
  • Miss Kitty: She is the mother of Cinnamon and has studied scent blending/perfumes in Europe. She is a bit eccentric.
  • John Davis: A lawyer and Theodosia's former boyfriend. He chose to relocate to New York and offered Theodosia the chance to accompany him as his wife if she'd give up the tea shop. He owns a sailboat that he keeps in Charleston.
  • Fallon: She is Daria's sister and steps in to manage The Map Shop until it can be determined what will be done with it.
  • Tred Pascal: From the State Archeology Office, he is sent to check out the bone that Earl Grey finds in the yard of Theodosia's prospective home.
