This was really quite good; I did not read the book that comes before this one but that did not keep this from being an extremely enjoyable read.

Great piece of imaginative and dark horror fiction. The imagery is superb, but the characters come off as one-sided and clichéd. A lot of gruesome violence and some I feel Lee does just to shock, but it does get old after a while. A good throw away read.

The sequel to City Infernal which has a lot of the same appealing elements as this book. Talk about incredible imagery! If more people read this book instead of the Bible, I think there would be lines of penitent believers seeking conversion. EL makes hell a truly terrible place ruled by evil and cruelty. Our "meek" heroine who is able to access the portal to hell is still able to prevail over this evil through belief and self-sacrifice. Great plot. A very enjoyable, albeit stomach-turning read at times.
