This is a book for those who are interested in finding what is behind The Lord of the Rings, in discovering Tolkien's world better. For those who wish that the story's charm never ends

Unfinished Tales covers a lot of the same ground as The Silmarillion, but unlike the latter it was not edited to fit into a coherent narrative. So, in some ways, it is easier to read The Silmarillion first, then read this to get an idea of the unaltered stories that Tolkien left "unfinished." (There are still minor modifications from his manuscripts.)
