“Finally got around to reading Eddings' Belgariad and Malloreon. These stories are a lot of fun, but I would describe them as pedestrian. Not only because the characters spend the entire time moving from one place to another, but because the plots seem pretty pre-determined and not all that suspenseful. There is a lot of conflict, but there is never any doubt that the characters will prevail. In this way it makes climaxes not terribly satisfying because there's not much suspense. However, the characters are a lot of fun and I loved exploring this world with them--for Eddings makes full use of his fantasy world.”
