I found Schlosser's book to be disturbing and profound, especially if the allegations from Schlosser's investigation are true. His focus is definitely the fast food industry, but he also has made comments about other types of food, including organic food, that has me questioning what the heck is...

Thought-provoking, eye-opening and at times disgusting, this book is hard to read but also hard to put down. But reader beware: you may never want to touch fast food again after reading this book.

Extremely well written, this book left me with just the right amount of alarm. It also made me want to go to McDonald's for some french fries, but I blame that on being advertised to by McDonald's since I was a kid. lol

    Great read!
This book gives an amazing insight into the American fast food giants & spills all. Poor wages & shocking employee relations are only a small part of the story.
The main part of the tale being how the entire fast food industry in America has distorted, manipulated and altered the agricultural industry in th U.S. in the name of the all mighty dollar and the American dream.
I defy you to eat McDonald's again quite so readily after reading this book!

The Review is from Kendal in Core 705:
This is a very interesting and eye-opening non-fiction book about the present-day fast food industry. Eric Schlosser focuses on the actual cost of that "cheap" fast meal and how it negatively affects livestock, workers, and consumers. From the history of the fast food kings, to the individual farmers and workers, Fast Food Nation is an excellent read.

An absolute must read for everyone living in a country that has fast food restaurants. Totally absorbing and, well, rather disgusting.

This book real opened my eyes to the importance of agriculture and how food actually gets on our plates.

I started reading it thinking it would be an indictment of fast food but it was so much more. Schlosser is a fantastic journalist revealing the ways fast food has changed the way we eat, the way we work and so much more.
