I really enjoyed this book, because as the book begins, they start out with a surprising beginning. Throughout the book, it's really amusing, and funny, because as Darren ventures out to Vampire Mountain, he meets a new friend, and meets up with a friend that he met in the third book.

I liked this book because it is one of the first times where Darren actually get involved with higher order in the vampire clan. This is also the first time Darren meets vampire royalty.

Not the best book in the series. Not as thrilling as the others.

I personaly think that the Cirque Du Freak saga written by Darren Shan is awesome so far and plan to read "The Demonata" saga also written by Darren Shan.

What an amazing book! Vampire Mountain, written by Darren Shan and published in 2002, is a book that most interests me because it has tons of adventure, action, interesting characters, and keeps you extremely entertained, and I most definitely wanted to know what new adventures the characters would pursue, and each characters role in the plot. This book is one that is extremely easy to read, and is also fun to read at the same time.
This story is set in a circus that travels all around the United States, but also at a very interesting place called Vampire Mountain. Darren Shan must travel to Vampire Mountain in a far away valley because he is following Mr. Crepsley (his vampire teacher) to present him to the vampire princess. Along with them, two very special ghouls are demanded to be taken by one of Mr. Crepsley’s closest friends to protect Darren along the way. These ghouls are demanded to be taken because they will protect Darren from the many dangers along the way up the snowy, rocky, and very slippery mountain. Along the journey, one of Mr. Crepsley’s oldest vampire friends (Gavner Purl) meets up with Darren and Crepsley at a resting stop created by the vampire prince as a place where vampires can stay and rest on their treacherous journey to the top of the mountain. When they arrive at the resting stop, they find a pack of friendly wolves that keeps them company along the way to the vampire head quarters. The vampires follow the wolves up the steep slopes of the mountain because they know the quickest and least dangerous root as they have been traveling there for food for many years. When they reach the vampire lairs, Darren is presented a task that tests his skills as a vampire and could possibly change his life as a vampire forever.
My favorite character in the book is Darren. He is a very confident person that never gives up, no matter how dangerous or long the task will take. Although Darren had almost no idea why he was traveling to Vampire Mountain, when he arrives, and is presented with the task, he stays confident and loyal to his master Mr. Crepsley. Darren’s understanding of the vampire rules and ways plays an important role in the book because when he is given his special task, he needs to look back into his first teaching from years back to complete it. I like his positive attitude, his view on life, his knowledge, and his braveness. When I first started reading this book, I was totally addicted!
I had absolutely nothing bad to say about this book. I liked all of the settings, characters and their roles in the plot. By the end of the book, there was a development in maturity, and courageousness in characters. There is a slow going beginning to the book, but suddenly rises into lots of action by the middle. The rise in action did not affect the plot negatively. It is one of my favorite reads! I highly recommend it. I can hardly wait to read the next book because I have absolutely no expectations on what events are going to occur, and I need to find out!

Darren Shan finds himself traveling with Crepsley to vampire mountain in this fourth book. He goes there to meet with the vampire princes to see if Crepsley will get into trouble for turning him into a half vampire. He travels there with Crepsley and a hooded character named Harkat who helps them along the way. They finally make there way there to find out huge news for Darren that is life threatening.
