Characters/People edit see section history

  • Susan Brandt: Susan is the co-founder of Crossroads Crisis Center. Married to Benjamin, mother of Christopher. Susan was murdered while stopped at a traffic light by two unknown men three years ago.
  • Paul Johnson: Paul Johnson is the personal assistant of Gregory Chessman, a wealthy philanthropist in Seagrove Village.
  • Peggy Crane: Peggy is the Director at Crossroads Crisis Center. She's hard but fair and extremely protective of her staff and those who come to the shelter seeing help.
  • Kelly: Kelly is a woman with few memories. She was carjacked, beaten and left for dead. Her abductor called her Susan. Discovered in the woods, she has a business card for the center with Susan written on its back--and a necklace that once belonged to Benjamin's dead wife. A necklace that disappeared at the scene when Susan was murdered.
  • Mark Taylor: Mark Taylor is the Security Chief at Three Gables, Benjamin Brandt's home. Mark also handles security for Ben's other properties including Crossroads Crisis Center and The Towers, a hotel where those who need a safe, secure place can reside. Mark's mother died in childbirth and his best friend, a military member of his covert unit named Jane, are both dead and he feels responsible. His family held him responsible for his mother. He is responsible for Jane's death because he was detained and not where he was supposed to be. If he had been, she'd be alive.
  • Benjamin Brandt: The owner of Crossroads. While Ben had been a man of faith, when his wife and son were murdered, he lost faith in anything, including God. But when a mysterious woman appears at the clinic wearing Susan's necklace, his hope is to finally find the killers. He can't imagine anything or anyone that would heal his shattered heart.
  • Gregory Chessman: Chessman is a paradox. He appears to be everything admirable and good. A wealthy philanthropist who helps any and all who ask. A hard working, self-made man. A devoted supporter of the underdog in all things. But as we all know, appearances can be deceptive. With Gregory they are deceptive times three!
  • John Green: John Green is the mayor of Seagrove Village. Married to Darla, he is the father of Lance, and the brother of the coroner, Hank. John has always seemed like a good man to everyone in the village. But is he? Or is he a cold-blooded killer with ties to a covert organization attempting to launch attacks against the U.S.?
  • Harry: Harry is an operative for a covert organization. He's not the brightest bulb on the block but he has brawn and he's willing to use it.
  • Doris: Doris is the housekeeper for the notorious Atlanta Attorney, Alex Denham.
  • Karen: Karen is an assumed name for the mystery woman who appeared at the center with no memory of her identity.
  • Hank: Hank is the brother of Mayor John Green. Hank is Seagrove Village's coroner.
  • Edward: Edward is a partner to Harry.
  • Darla: Darla Green is the wife of Mayor John Green. She's deemed fluff, an airhead by many, but is she? Or is that cover a crafted image of herself she portrays for her own purposes?
  • Dr. Harvey Talbot: The divorced Senior Psychologist at Crossroads Crisis Center. Harvey is gentle, kind, devoted and when his wife divorced him, he was devastated.
  • Lisa Harper: Lisa Harper is a med student about to graduate and get her license. She's the daughter of Annie and Charles Harper. Her father is dead and her mother remarried a man named Dutch Hauk when Lisa was young. At 16, her mother removed her from her own home and placed her in the custody of Susan Brandt and the board of directors at Crossroads for Lisa's own protection.
  • Samuel Johnson: A relative of Paul Johnson. Abusive and just plain mean.
  • Mel: Mel is a female college student who works as a receptionist at Crossroads. She has for several years. Peggy mothers her, Lisa protectors her--often more than Mel would like--and everyone watches out for her. She dresses funky, puts green streaks in her hair but she's sharp and has an excellent head on her shoulders, which is probably what saved her life against her drug-addicted mother and her string of significant others.
  • Nora: Nora is the half-blind (and losing her sight) housekeeper for Benjamin Brandt. She is crusty and blunt and runs the home with an iron fist. She is also beloved in the village, a twin, and active with the Church Ladies.
  • Beth: Beth is the deceased aunt of the mystery woman.
  • Clyde Parker: Clyde Parker found the mystery woman in the woods and takes her to Crossroads. He's a widower, retired, a good man with arthritis. He's very close to Nora and they're often together. Clyde is a handyman at Crossroads.
  • Richard Massey: A detective in New Orleans.
  • Jeff Meyers: Detective Jeff Meyers is with the Seagrove Village Police Department.
  • Alexander Denham: An Atlanta attorney who comes to play a significant role with the mystery woman.
  • Christopher Brandt: The deceased three-year old son of Benjamin and Susan (d) Brandt.
  • Dr. Harvey Talbot: Senior Psychologist at Crossroads Crisis Center. Harvey is close to Lisa, Mentors her. He was happily married but his wife was not. She divorced Harvey and he's still devastated by that.
