John Taylor is a private detective who uses his special gift to find anything in the Nightside, but is hiding in the normal world. He's hired by Joanna Barrett to find her runaway daughter and insists on joining him in the search in the Nightside. Strangefellows is introduced as his old, steady haunt and you find that he's being hunted by powerful forces because of his mother, who he never knew. By the way, she's possibly a demon. Razor Eddie shows up to give an idea of how friends work in the Nightside. Going to various areas of the Nightside including a Time Slip that shows a possible horrible future, Taylor starts to see his client as a love interest when we run into Suzie Shooter, who tags along with arms to help find the missing girl. Walker shows to establish the pecking order of the area as far as authority is concerned. Come to find out, the runaway is being eaten by a house and the mother isn't actually her mother at all, but a construct made to lure Taylor. Girl gets rescued, and becomes Taylor's assistant, whether he likes it or not. Welcome back to the Nightside.
