Yes | No“This was a thorough and engaging portrait of one of the most important rock musicians of the 20th century. "Redemption Song" shows the complete Joe Strummer, his genius and his flaws, in a way that makes you appreciate what he accomplished and mourn his life cut too short.

“Rich in detail and laden with so-weird-they-have-to-be-real characters and events, this is one of the finest rock 'n roll biographies I have ever read, and I have read many. Too many.[br/][br/]However, you must absolutely love this man and his music to enjoy this book. While it does an extraordinary job of capturing the volatile essence of the birth of punk rock, it can be a bit of a slog, with it's nearly day-by-day account of John Graham Mellor's (admittedly facinating) life. [br/][br/]If you can handle all of the names and dates, the tale itself plays out like a Shakesperean tragedy. Man loses brother, man loses band, man never loses faith. And just when it looks like that faith will bring a happy ending--death, sudden, shocking, and poignant. [br/][br/]Not for the casual fan, but if you grew up awed by Joe and his last honest man magnetism, this book is a must read.[br/][br/]”
