This guy makes spoons and cans of beans meaningful characters and gives some history lessons you're not likely to come across elsewhere along the way.

This book has a special place in my heart. My friend Ky gave it to me, along with a spoon, a stick, and a crystal. I still have them.

This was one of Robbins' older books I think and you could definitely tell with its Middle East focus that makes you recall the intifada of the 1980s. But Robbins' philosophical ramblings and quirky style is endearing and there is nothing bad you can say about a book whose main characters are a can of beans, a spoon, and a dirty sock. Not as good as "Jitterbug Perfume" in my opinion but I am going to keep reading Robbins.

I enjoyed the story and I like Robbins as an writer. However I did feel like the end was a bit choppy. A bit of a cop-out.
