Good so far! Not very exciting, but good depiction of life in the early 1900's.

katy thatcher realizes what a silent boy can do for his family. He tried to help but it did not come up that way even though he did not mean harm he did it

I would use this book in my classroom with the Open-Mind Portraits strategy. This book has an amazing and interesting character that could be used for this strategy. The students would think more deeply about the character and reflect on the story events from the character's point of view. The students will draw or write what the character is thinking on the mind and face of the page. More pages can be attached behind them for students to reflect about each chapter of the book.

Heart warming story of human nature and how little effort it takes to be kind to others and understand other peoples problems

The Silent Boy was a very inspiring and unforgetable book that talked about how a young boy was rejected by his community because he was different. I encourage many to read this book because it will open your eyes and it will leave with a memory that you can't shake.
