“Years ago I read "The Giver" and instantly fell in love with the book and the message. I honestly didn't know that there was a follow up book until now although it is not as captivating to me as The Giver was it still is a good read in my opinion. ”
“I read this book for a class and it was ok i didnt really enjoy it. that might just be because it isnt the type of book i normally read so ya. PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ON MY PAGE THAT YOU DIDNT LIKE THE WAY I COMMENTED. I WAS SIMPLY EXPRESSING MY OPINION!!”
“I think you need to read the messenger to finish the series.”
“i loved both the giver and gathering blue but people keep telling me i should and shouldnt read the messenger.... so any opinions would help me.”
“I liked this one better than the giver, although they are both really good. Interesting how Lowry made them about the same major "catastrophic" event happening and the different ways society could evolve. I didn't like the messenger as well. Something about these reminds me a little of Lord of the Flies, I guess because we always wonder what would happen if all the previous ways of living were thrown out the window and we had to start fresh.”
“This was a great book, although not as fulfulling as The Giver. Good, quick read though.”
“Being left as an orphan toughened her up as opposed to if she had been pampered her whole life.”
“The VIllage Of HealingAnyone else think that maybe that's where Jonas from "The Giver" ended up? Also, someone told me that there's a sequel to this (not The Giver). Anyone know what it's called? Thanks, just wanted to bring that up.”
“Great, thanks!”
“The third book in what I will call this trilogy (though I'm not really sure that the three books qualify under this term) is called Messenger. In Messenger, it's quite clear where Jonas ends up.”
