I loved this one - a wonderful historical written by a great author.
Luke has returned to his hometown where his father had been hanged for the murder of Luke's mother, but he's only there to settle a score and capture his half-brother. There he again met Charity Barnham, the girl he'd saved from drowning when she was eight. Only now she was 23, beautiful, and promised to marry Raoul Montego, her friend and neighbor, but unwilling to do so. It didn't take Charity long to discover her feelings for Luke - and that made the possibility of marriage to another man impossible. Over time, he found Vance but things took a turn for the worst at the ranch where Charity lived, and she made a bargain with Luke. They would marry, but only for a year - then he could go his own way. He was so concerned about the fact that having his name would make Charity's life a living hell. When things reached an inevitable conclusion, Charity's strength and determination had to be tremendous!

This, was one of my all times favorites! I love Linda's writing. Great story, quick pace and of all the books I've read, I believe this had to be one of the best endings I've ever experienced. It was that good. .

As children, Luke rescued Charity from drowning. She promised him one wish. Years later, Charity is engaged to Raoul when Luke shows up wanting to claim his wish. This is a fairy tale set out West, and is Miller at her finest.

Great western romance. Luke Shardlow rescues Charity Barnham from drowning when they are just kids. Luke is the kid from the wrong side of the tracks to say the least. Charity is the only daughter of the local land baron. Through the years they are apart. When they come together 10 years later, sparks begin to fly. Really great story
