I have read this book multiple times and plan to read it many more, I am very drawn in by the storyline and the fact that the heroines are just as strong as the heros.

A few thoughts on this book - and I'm taking into account that it's the first of a series.

There were aspects of the story I really enjoyed. The author did a great job of creating her world and defining the tensions between the factions. The three main stories were interesting, some more than others, but I wasn't disappointed at each shift in the tale.

That said, the thing that bugged me most about this book are the names. Yes, I can understand where she came from when creating the names, but really.. they are so.. dorky. I don't know how else to put it.

All that said, I am looking forward to the next book.

Sluggish at times, but a good read.

I thought it was a good book. There were so many characters but it was easy to keep track of them. It's an interesting story.

I really liked this fantasy - all the elements were somewhat familiar despite being very unique. A great stary to an excellent series. Read them all!

This book really got me wrapped up in the story . . . and I liked it a lot, until I read the sequels and ended up hating the main character. That aside, I think it's very good writing. This particular copy of the book I had was also an Advanced Reader's Copy, so I'm not sure what may or may not be different from this version and the final editions. I definitely know it's different from the American releases, and I prefer the Austrailian originals.

This was an amazing book, so amazing that I was willing to read it even though the paperback version is as thick as both my wrists and the font is small enough to make my eyes pop out with strain. That's how much I love it! Sara Douglass spins a very unique, rich fantasy world with enough of the 'basic' elements mixed in so that you don't feel completely lost and alone. This book had me from the first sentence, and I can only hope to share it with as many people as possible.
