One of those books that I had to force myself to keep reading because I kept asking myself, "what's the point." However, as experimental novels go, this is a blockbuster. It makes one question not only the nature of reality, but also one's own sanity. From Wikipedia: "This book is about a reader trying to read a book called _If on a winter's night a traveler_. "You are about to begin reading Italo Calvino's new novel, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler. Relax. Concentrate."

This is a novel that I admired more than enjoyed. I could see what Calvino was trying to do, interspersing unfinished bits of novels with a frame story about a frustrated reader trying to read an incomplete novel, complete with musings on the relationship between a reader and the pages he or she reads. Still, the game became tedious for me by the end. I'm glad I made...
