• Catherine Velis lives in New York. She is an auditor. After upsetting her bosses by doing the right thing, Catherine is sent to Algeria. While there she enters the Game. The Game is aglobal chess game where the peices are real people. If a piece is taken the person representing that peice dies. The Game is fought over an ancient chess service owned by Charlemange, the Montglane Service.
