People do not live by the WHOLE bible because some of its details no longer apply, but the principles do, primarily as it relates to that part of the Law dealing with sacrifices and the Temple cult. By his death Christ made obsolete the sacrificial system. And that...

best book in the world and hardly ever on my real shelf as it travels with me! I've lived by The Book my whole life and tend to read it straight through every few years (or every year, though that is hard to manage)

i have no use for judaism nor christianity as a religion, but i grew up mbelieving every word of this book was true, now i just appreciate it as an early collection of folks tales, but some of it is truly beautiful, some of the stories are horrible, but even as terrible as they are, they tend to be entertaining. greatest book ever written, not by a long shot, but the most influential, at least on western literature and society, absolutely!
