“This is one of those books whose concept is what grabs me most: Carver knows he'll die in a short time (on the order of months) and focuses his energies in his last days writing the poems in this book. The poems are very good, though the style is not what I'm most drawn to in poetry. This book is well worth reading regardless; it left me with a sense of wonder about life and an admiration for Carver the man. I only hope that I am half as brave in my last days. ”
