Enjoyable, easy read. Though I've enjoyed reading the movie multiple times, I'm not sure I would read again. The theme I easily tire of. Vianne believes happiness is the most important things and Pere Reynaud is her protagonist. At ever point dogma versus pursuit of happiness; I am so bored of the battle, I don't have energy to point out the flaws of each.

Book was enjoyable, in a slow, well written type of way. Narratives alternated between first-person Vianne, and Pere Reynaud confessing at the bedside of Lansquenet's previous priest.

Different from the movie, it seems increasingly inevitable that Vianne and Anouk (and Pantoufle) must move on. Especially as Vianne relies more and more upon her mother's magic to pry into people's lives and pull out hidden secrets that she in the beginning had no desire to learn. Michael Roux, far from Johnny Deep's elusive and intriguing character, does not hold my interest to feel any regret at the loss of a romantic intrigue.

The only good thing about the film is Johny Depp!!! Who personally I'd watch in any old rubbish, just to be able to sit and stare at him LoL.

The book is FAR better that the film, a very good read. I love the way the way she is able to read peoples character and help them accordingly. I don't do romance books, but the romance factor is miniscule, it's more about seeing people for what they are and accepting people.
