A truly insightful story on so many levels. ”

This is partly autobiography and partly about his mother and life as a very poor white family in the south who were labeled as "white trash." It seems that every sentence is thought-provoking and rich with culture. As a reporter, the author covered stories that took him into horrific situations both in the US and abroad and he recounts those experiences as well, with terrific honesty and compassion. ”

At least there wasn't a bunch of swearing or gratuitous sex! I'm always amazed at how folks can rise above horrible home life and difficulties.”

After reading "A Hope in the Unseen" I don't feel as bad for him. He kind of throws himself a pitty party, but it is still an enjoyable read.”
